  1. From the very beginning, Game Breaker was built around a single core principle: quality. As a game made by one person, budget constraints for things like music, animation, and writing were minimal, giving me the freedom to focus entirely on refining the game for years.
At the heart of the project was a simple question:

  2.

  3. What if someone locked themselves away for years and poured everything they had into making the most ambitious video game they could possibly create?

  4.

  5. Game Breaker is what came out of that question.

  6. After seven years of daily work, with little rest and a lot of sacrifice, I'm finally at the point where I can share the most meaningful milestone so far:

  7.

  8. The main game of Game Breaker is complete.

- A Glimpse into the World -

The main game of the game where all characters know they're inside a video game is complete!
Here's a closer look into several scenes and features in the game that have never been seen before!

New Battle Mechanics

frame 2.png

Dashing is a central mechanic in battles. This is a ridiculous glitch that happens in Game Breaker's world when you start moving and blink in the same frame. It makes you insanely mobile and even allows you to dash through attacks!

This glitch alone makes the player completely overpowered.

Thank God the enemies are just as overpowered!

frame 2.png

This character's name is Flint Escard - many special moments in this game

are linked to this obsessed character.

A glimpse of the Boomerang Sword attack - one of the special moves you can learn through cheats!

Why slash enemies if you can just yeet that thing through all their attacks?

frame 2.png

It doesn't matter if you exploit the 31 cheats or overpowered mechanics in this game - just cheat your entire way through this chaos! Game Breaker gives you a huge amount of freedom for how you play

and how you solve problems. Every enemy has their own completely unique moveset that you can

cheese whatever way you like.

The game is big...but how big?

Game Breaker is packed with secrets and places to explore - depending on your playstyle and curiosity

this game can take you 40 hours or more!

Here's what's waiting for you behind the title screen...

Note: this chart isn't to rank games, just to show how big the soundtrack is.

Every Game Breaker track was crafted with care and passion - some were reworked several times to get just the right feel.

On top of that, you won't even hear all the songs in a single playthrough - many tracks are

tied to specific story paths and can only be experienced when you as a player decide to take

that specific route.

Here are three songs from the soundtrack that have never been heard before!

Game Breaker's design philosophy values player feedback over anything else. To make this

game the best it can be, there will be two major rounds of feedback gathering - the first one

starts this month! This part of the update explains the full procedure in detail.

An Alpha version of a game is a development build where the core gameplay systems are

implemented and the game is fully playable from start to finish. However, many aspects are

still unpolished, unoptimized, and it's not uncommon for the game to contain major bugs.

(So, in the case of Game Breaker, the game is even more broken than the characters think it is.)

Alpha versions usually also lack certain features - for Game Breaker, these include:

- Postgame Content: After beating the game, Game Breaker will include a postgame featuring

several secret bosses and new areas. This part of the game is still in development and will only

be available in the Beta version.

- Mastered Audio: Some tracks in the soundtrack may sound slightly raw to trained ears, as most

songs haven't been fully mastered yet. Many songs will sound more polished in the Beta and final release.

- Steam Achievements: Game Breaker's Steam page is currently in development, meaning

Alpha testers will receive standalone downloadable files. Steam achievements won't trigger

during the Alpha.

- Windows only: The Alpha version will only be playable on Windows.

- Additional endings: The Alpha version includes several endings, but not all of them -

especially because some of them are tied to the post game.

...I'm out of missing features.

Game Breaker's Alpha version is more robust and finished than most Alphas, which usually

lack entire gameplay elements. For Game Breaker, this version is the earliest playable

version with all gameplay elements implemented that conveys the game's entire

vision, but it's not unlikely you'll find oversights that, in the worst-case scenario, could make

the game crash.

By offering an Alpha version, players get included into the design process, turning into game

designers themselves. So if breaking the game counts as breaking the fourth wall,

consider the player designing this game breaking the fifth wall.

Alpha Testing: Breaking the Fifth Wall?

The Alpha Testing Process

Alpha access is available exclusively to Kickstarter supporters from the successful 2021 campaign who selected the Alpha Testing tier or higher. Including PayPal pledgers, there are 9 players in total who can participate in this very early testing.

Participation is optional and it's also an option to wait for the Beta version or the final release.

If an Alpha tester chooses not to participate, their testing slot will be transferred to another randomly selected community member.

Organization

Around two days after this update is released, I'll contact all eligible testers directly to ask about their availability and interest. The official Alpha start date will be decided after hearing back from everyone. Players who are available earlier will get to test the game earlier. Priority will also be given based on the amount pledged during the Kickstarter campaign, as not all Alpha testers backed at the same level.

The Alpha will be conducted in waves, not all at once. One player will get access first - once they finish, the next small group will begin, and so on. This approach allows for:

    - Better balancing (weak/overpowered bosses can directly be adjusted for the next wave)

    - Potential bug fixes between waves to prevent several players experiencing the same game-breaking bugs.

How Testing Works

You're free to play the game at your own pace and in the same way you play any other game. Ideally, testers will complete a full playthrough, but it's also fine to stop early if needed.

There are two ways to participate:

1) With live observation

As announced during the Kickstarter campaign, Alpha testers can choose to play while I watch via screen sharing. This allows me to get immediate feedback, help with any issues in real-time, and directly observe how you react to certain moments in the story.

2) Solo playthrough

If you prefer a more private experience, that's totally fine! Once you've finished the game (or gone as far as you want), you'll receive a detailed questionnaire to share your feedback.

The entire alpha phase will run from late June 2025 to approximately August 2025, depending on how long testers need to complete the game.

Only for the real Game breakers...

All Alpha testers will receive a version of Game Breaker with a secret debug mode hidden inside, which requires both unusual inputs and a password to access. For the worst-case scenario of you getting stuck somewhere (especially during a solo playthrough), you can send me a message and I'll guide you through the necessary steps to continue the game normally.

Game breaker's dark secrets

Note: Despite its jokes, Game Breaker holds several dark secrets. The final release may not be playable for players under the age of 18 as the game develops psychological horror elements at a certain point. I won't spoil the details, but this game dives deep into themes such as depression and suicide, and contains several scenes that can be disturbing to some people. There is a filter that reduces blood to a minimum, but if you’re feeling mentally unwell, please proceed with caution when playing.

The future: beta and Release

The date of Game Breaker's Beta release that includes the postgame, more polish, and integrated player feedback largely depends on the feedback from Alpha testers. However, the current rough estimate is

6 to 9 months after the Alpha phase.

A Steam page for Game Breaker is in the works and will go live in the coming months! Once it's available, it will be shared publicly right away - from then on, you'll be able to wishlist the game and

play the demo directly via Steam until its release.

The release date will be determined and announced sometime before the Beta phase begins.

Game Breaker will launch on Steam for Windows and Mac at its originally planned

price of  $19.99, with a decent chance of also being ported to the Nintendo Switch 2.

Thank You.

A lot has been sacrificed to get to this point - many hours, health, sleep (and at some point, even the O-button on my keyboard gave up). Even while lying in bed with a 41°C fever during Covid, I kept translating this game on my phone with shaking hands, and that's just one of many stories.
Every major step until the release is documented in great detail in the over 1000-page-long
Game Breaker Diary, which Kickstarter supporters will receive
once the game launches.

This game is closer to its release than it has ever been and I am very proud of what it has become.
